YOUTH

Keeping active after school to hanging out with friends during the holidays. We’ve got the just the thing to build water confidence, new skills, learn fun games and make some new friends. Sometimes we SUP, sometimes we kayak – we always have fun.
We offer after School sessions from the first Wednesday in May until the school holidays begin. We offer Sessions Every Weekday during Easter, Half-Term & Summer Holidays!

SCHOOL Holiday Sessions

These sessions take place every weekday during the school holidays. You can book in for a single day or all week – every day is different on the water!

AFTER SCHOOL SESSIONS

All sessions take place on Wednesday, starting early May. Sessions are organised by school Year Groups, please see relevant session for timings.

SHRIMPS (Reception – Year 2)

Our SHRIMPS club is for little ones who can’t wait to make a splash!

These sessions have a 3:1 instructor ratio. Your little one will embark on amazing adventures paddle boarding or kayaking, finding mermaids, pirates and turtles. This is a perfect chance to build water confidence, make friends for life and a great induction to watersports.

No paddling skill needed but a Parent/Guardian must be present.

Wednesdays: 3:30 – 4:30pm

Whats included: board/kayak, paddles, wetsuit, buoyancy aid
You might want to bring: A hat if it is very sunny or very cold, sunglasses on a string, suncream, some water to keep hydrated.
Note: Shrimps must have a parent or guardian at the centre or on the waters edge at all times. Anyone misbehaving will be taken off the water and asked to leave the centre. We reserve the right to combine sessions based on number of participants, Shrimp and Starfish sessions may become one group on occasion.

STARFISH (Year 3 – 6)

Our STARFISH club – fun packed sessions – kayaking and paddleboarding!

STARFISH is for primary school aged children. During this fun-packed sessions children will be either paddle boarding or kayaking. The main aim is to improve paddling skills, learn about our island, improve water confidence, make lots of friends and of course, have a huge amount of fun!

Starfish can be left but Parent/Guardian must be present for signing in and out.

Wednesdays: 3:30 – 4:30pm

Whats included: board/kayak, paddles, wetsuit, buoyancy aid

Note: Starfish can be left but must have a parent or guardian to sign them in and out. Anyone misbehaving will be taken off the water and asked to leave the centre. We reserve the right to combine sessions based on number of participants, Shrimp and Starfish sessions may become one group on occasion.

Young Teens (Years 7 – 9)

So now they are at senior school, they don’t want to be with the small kids They are still learning or improving their paddling skills but are maybe ready for a bit more adventure and to come with us to explore all the creeks and marshes on our beautiful island. Fun is still the number one priority but also learning respect for the environment and the sea.

Parent/Guardian must be present when signing in and out.

Wednesdays: 5:00 – 6:00pm

Whats included: board/kayak, paddles, wetsuit, buoyancy aid
You might want to bring: A hat if it is very sunny or very cold, sunglasses on a string, suncream, some water to keep hydrated.
Note: Teens can rock up by themselves but a parent or guardian must sign a disclaimer at the beginning of the season and both the participant and the responsible adult must agree to the terms of use. Anyone misbehaving will be taken off the water and asked to leave the centre. We reserve the right to combine sessions based on number of participants, Young Teens and Older Teens may become one group on occasion.

Older Teens (Years 10+)

Once they hit Year 10 and beyond they know it all, don’t they? So this session is really a chance to hang out, make some friends, be a bit independent, improve skills, maybe learn some tricks and get to know the waters around Mersea. The instructor(s) is there to make sure everyone is safe and to give some direction to the paddle. Older teens are welcome to stay behind after and hang out for a while with a soft drink.

Wednesdays: 6:00 – 8:00pm
